Surgery to Remove a Wide Variety of Growths or Masses
Growths can occur on the skin surface or under the skin (subcutaneous) and can be associated with muscle, bone, nerves, internal organs or fat. These masses can be benign or malignant. We often collect cells by doing a fine needle aspirate prior to surgery to get an idea of what the mass is and what we are dealing with. When removing growths, we recommend sending them into the laboratory to have a histopathology done. This will tell us what kind of mass it is, whether it is benign or malignant and whether we removed the entire growth.
